Ferrets do not throw up hairballs like cats, they have to process them. A laxative or even some petroleum jelly will fix that. If the ferret has a dry cough that you hear frequently, it probably has a hairball. Just give it some of the laxative for a few days and it should be fine. I have 13 ferrets and do not have to give them a laxative very often at all. I don't ever see hair in their poop, so I wouldn't worry. As long as the poop looks good and the cough doesn't sound wet, I wouldn't worry about it.

Actually, this kinda thing is already being done. See Faith based Groups law and funding. As far as funding, I rarely see that in Indiana. Buying better food than me that is. In Indiana they family of four gets about $275 bucks a month in food stamps and maybe $250 a week in unemployment. I was on food stamps and ate quite well but then I used my $190 a month very wisely indeed. Coupon clipping etc. Usually saved 72-93% off the list prices. After all, I wasn't working and had all the time in the world to follow every sale watch every coupon. I enjoyed the challenge of getting as much with as little as possible. My daughter is 3 years old. We've been trying to accomplish potty training for 4 months now. I put her in panties during the day and pull ups at night. The problem I am having is her going number two. She will not do it in the potty for NOTHING! She waits til after she poops in her panties to tell me she had to poop. Why do I get charged taxes when paying with EBT /SNAP / Foodstamps when I use coupons?

My family is struggling to make ends meet because my husbands hours got cut at work & I have still not been called for an interview, although I have been putting in at least 1 application everyday. We are receiving food stamp (or SNAP) benefits, but it never seems to be enough get through til the next time our benefits are reloaded. SO, I am trying coupons to help stretch those "dollars". I am curious... why is it that when I use coupons, I have to pay the tax for that item? When I pay with food stamps, the taxes are forgiven, but when I use coupons, then some stores make you pay for the tax with cash. I do not understand how this makes sense. If he's not willing to try then I would wait. Girls are often ready about age 2, but boys are often closer to 3 before they are ready. If he's not interested then I wouldn't push it.

Just ask her frequently if she needs to use the potty and come up with something of a schedule where you just say "It's potty time." and put her on the toilet. I potty trained my little cousin, and I just put him on his little toilet everytime he said he needed to and everytime I had to go. Sometimes seeing you do it will make them want to, if you're comfortable with that. Also, anytime she wets her pants, sit her on the toilet and tell her that that's where she needs to pee while you get her clean pants. And at night, it'll be awhile before you can get her to stop wetting the bed, so make sure you protect the mattress. I'd use pull ups all the time at first, then just at night when she can hold it a little better. But please, try your absolute best to have her potty trained before she goes to school. It's horribly embarrassing for kids to have to wear pull ups to school or have frequent accidents. Hope this helps.

She was potty trained at 11 - 12 months. She started really talking when she was 1 year 6 months. Not just small speech like "a big dog". My puppy is an inside dog so everytime she had an accident inside I would take her outside & she she doesnt like to be outside for long so she learned that everytime she peed/pooped inside she would go outside for 10 minutes max. For our terriers, we would just wait until they drank a bunch of water, give them about half an hour, then take them out to the grass and just let them walk around until they were done. When they finally went, we would praise them massively, then go inside. I've never really tried to stick to a schedule too much, but I would give the dog at least two weeks. It takes time, but you'll be so glad you stuck with it.

I have a 4 month old shepherd, I've only had her for a month though. I take her outside every hour but she still doesn't seem to understand that she should go to the door when she has to go potty, she goes anywhere she can. Okay, keep in mind my uncle isn't a perv and my child also told us today after peeing on himself that my grandma peed on him. lol (He is potty training). So, when he said my uncle stuck his finger up his butt it still worried me because I love my child more than anything and I wouldn't want to seem him hurt, but it just doesn't seem to add up. He is rarely ever with my uncle more than five minutes alone because we have a large family at my grandma's all the time and everybody when I told them, laughed it off saying he was making it up that my uncle isn't like that- which I would agree. Later, when I asked my son he said no it wasn't true. Then I asked him again and he said it was. Later he might say no. He is three. There are no signs of abuse and he loves my uncle to death. How Do I Handle 11-Month Old Chihuahua Aggression?

I have been very consistent in training my chihuahua, who is now currently 11 months old and 9 lbs. He has been with me since 12-weeks and was neutered as a young puppy as he had started to exhibit certain behaviours (humping objects, etc) that led it to be advised. He is crate trained, potty trained, social and friendly in the dog park, but has exhibited aggressive behaviours from time to time. He is not allowed on the furniture, is made to wait for humans to enter doors first, and must sit or do other tricks to be rewarded or served his food. However, his aggression has been most seen around food, guarding his crate, guarding me, or when people pet him. Before, he would always want attention from others, but now he will be comfortable receiving a pet but then suddenly turns and snaps, warding off whoever is petting him. My boyfriend, who lives with us, is the most frequent victim. This past weekend, after getting picked up from the train station, I was sitting with my mother and the dog in the back seat of the car. She was petting and he suddenly tensed up and tried to bite her. Prior, he had always been very calm and well behaved in the car. On another occasion, while sitting on my boyfriend's lap in the car, my boyfriend was holding him and moved his hands slightly and the dog began to growl. I'd don't know if this is fear based or territorial. But the behaviour is very fickle and changes quickly. He will be accepting one minute, then suddenly tense and upset. He has been examined recently with a good bill of health. This behaviour is never exhibited towards me. After he lashes out, he instantly gets embarrassed, will lower his head in submission, and know that he has done something wrong. But he will still possibly lash out if anyone is in his space. I'm worried as this behaviour is new, as in the past few weeks, and I want to nip it in the bud. In regards to his aggression in the crate, I've had my boyfriend casually drop treats into the crate when the dog is resting inside, and speaking kindly to him. This is slowly improving and he is more accepting of people's presence near his crate. However, the other moments when he snaps are concerning me. If anyone has any advice-- please let me know. I have also been seeing a behaviorist to assist, but wanted to gather additional feedback.

I have been babysitting my niece since my daughter was 3 months old. She is used to being around me and my daughter, therefore, always getting only half of my attentions but it seems lately, since my daughter has been walking and talking (she is 18mo now), her cousin is iffy about her. I love my niece but its getting hard to keep watching her everyday when I sometimes want to just pay special attention to my daughter for even a minute and her cousin suddenly has to pee pee (shes starting potty training) or will suddenly need water or jump in front of my daughter and try to take the attention off of her. I trained my nephew to not wet the bed by constantly waking him up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom. I told him beforehand I was going to do this and that it was to get him to get into the habit of waking up if he had to pee. So I did this every night for about a month until he started getting up on his own to pee. Sure, it was an inconvenience for me in the short term, but not having to deal with those wet sheets and giving him confidence to do it on his own and get rid of his embarrassment in the long run was worth it.

Her doggy bed is in my room and she was just laying there a little droopy eyed and it seemed to me like she was completely at rest and just falling asleep, i saw nothing too strange and then i look over again and my girl is completely silent, paralized and cunvulsing,her body was contorting backwards, foaming at the mouth. was very obviously unconcious and having a seizure..all i could do was repeatedly call her name and eventually about a few minutes later she was still seizuring but she starting snarling and barking and snapping at us of course not being aware of any of this....she continued to convulse and bark but was trying to come around..and she made it on her feet but was frantic as i was but she was still convulsing and falling down..she was dizzy and falling over for a few minutes after that. She did have a potty accident during this. the episode lasted about ten to 12 minutes altogether and it was so disturbing and completely devistating to witness...and then now she is fine and loving like her normal self...and she was just anxious and very confused after and now she is just exhausted and is sleeping...of course we called the vet hospital and they said to watch her for any kind of abnormal behavior and bring her in if so....are their any vets who can give me more opinions or people with the same experience? I guess the upbringing wasn't strict enough, that sorry to say your daughters have climb over your head in another word spoilt brats. Punishments should be given at the correct timing. Eg. When they complain the dirtiness make them clean it. Wasting the marshmallows, make them pay for it etc. There's many ways to control those situation but you kind of let them slip. I'm not a mom, but i'm the eldest in the family. My aunt have issues with her kids to. I manage to control them. My puppy won't stop whining in his crate?

What breed small dog do you suggest for my family?

You might try a Bichon Frise. This breed is in the toy dog category, but it is actually the largest toy dog out there. Leave her outside until she goes to the bathroom. You could even make her drink lots of water so she has to go. When she goes to the bathroom outside, get super excited and give her a treat. Then she will know thats what she is supposed to do.

When your child says they need to use the restroom every 5 minutes when you're out, do you let them?

My daughter is 2.5 and we're potty training, so i know what it's like. If i took her once and she went, then i would tell her "you just went" and dismiss the request, if it had only been 5 minutes since she went last. Now if she asks me again in maybe 15 mins, then i might, just to be safe, but i would try to dismiss all those "extra" requests. I would just use my better judgement. I can pretty much tell when she's just bored or just talking to talk, and then i can steer her away from talking about the potty when she doesn't really need to use it.

My parents won't let my dog come inside?

My parents won't let my dog come inside. She is outside all the time because she is not potty trained. She is a adult female and gets all the proper care and attention. She is played with CONSTANTLY and is often accompanied with the neighbors dogs as they get along great and love to play and chase each other. I have told them I know how to properly potty train a adult female. She is stubborn and when we tried before it did not work. She is kept warm in the winter, and gets her thick coat trimmed in the summer. In the winter we make sure her water does not freeze over and everything. Plus she has a nice shelter to go in under when she wants to nap, or get away from the weather. Is this okay? And if it is not any way for me to convince them to let her come in?

My dog is infested with fleas, but were having problems getting rid of them! We gave him lots of medicine for them, but none of it's working! I have a sister that is a couple of years younger than me. Growing up, I was always independent and wanted to do things on my own but she was always dependent for everything. O.K., I used to work in child protective services. Laws very by state. In general, a call comes in and the caller's name is kept confidential. The call taker makes an assessment as to whether or not there will be a follow up. That's the first gate keeper. If allegations are made that the child's life is in danger from abuse or neglect then the call has to be referred on to someone who goes out to check on the child. The age of the child makes a big difference in this. It doesn't sound like anyone is going to be taking away your children. They haven't even suggested opening up a case. Perhaps you just need to adjust your way of looking at it all. Social workers are people who care about the welfare of your children, they aren't "the enemy". If they do open a case, it's not the end of the world. Sit down with them. Tell them the truth and you will find they can offer some useful services. If you co-operate by doing classes or whatever they come up with as a "plan", it won't be long and they'll have closed the case. Look upon them as friends dropping by to visit. The state does not make any money by adopting children out. They do, however, have a mandate to not let children linger in foster care. Relatives are the first choice for fostering any child that needs to be removed from the home and they are also the first choice for adoption if they child cannot be returned home. Terminating parental rights doesn't just happen. The parents usually have a lot of chances to turn things around. But I get that this is an invasion of your privacy for no good reason, so perhaps you should consider consulting with a family law attorney to see if you can get CPS to stop coming over because you are feeling harassed. Toddler wont go potty in public?

My daughter will be 3yrs old in Oct . Shes great at home going potty she wears toddler undies and everything. But when we go to a store she'll say she has to go potty . But once we get to the bathroom she starts screaming and cry . She is afraid of the tiolets flushing cause they are too loud. Idk what to do. Cause i cant control how loud they are. Then sometimes we have to put a diaper on her cause we are to far to run home. What can i do to make her not afraid cause shes doing so well at home. Also she does stay home with me , doesnt go to daycare or anything.

It is possible and logical but I strongly disagree. Most animals in nature only have one parent - the mother. Fathers hang around only in a minority of cases. In humans mothers have only survived childbirth consistantly for about 60 years so single fathers were very much the norm before that. In humans a child simply needs to have family members of both sexes - it does not need to be the parents. I am sure that there are some children who would pick on the child of a gay couple but unless we are also going to ban overweight people, unattractive people, religious people, people with disabilities, poor people etc etc from having children bullies will always find a target.

My birthday is on July 20th and I am having a Sweet 15 because next year I will be in Germany for a month visiting my dad's family so I'm having my big party this year and I've already planned. My friends who are girls and I will go to a day spa and get a pedicure, manicure, get our hair done, and we will get massages. I recently found out how much EBT money people get. And I noticed at Whole Foods (Fancy and Healthy Grocery store) that they accept EBT cards. So we budget out the money and my family spends less than the EBT allowance that other people qualify for. And we mostly have to shop at Wal-Mart. What I don't understand is, how you people on Food Stamps shopat Wal-Mart. You get free food, so go to the real grocery store. And why do you buy the crappy bread? I would be buying that vermont bread with like 100 grams of fiber that costs liek $5 a loaf. Instead you buy wonderbread, what the crap?

ok so i never encountered or seen this guy but my parents have. He runs up to people and makes queer faces at them like as if he is angry. What is wrong with this dog?

One of my friends dog, Kenny, is having a health issue. For some reason, he is always urinating in the house. He is potty-trained and he usually let's you know when he has to go outside, but Kenny will just pee in the house without telling you. Also, he's getting very thin that you can see his ribs, but trust me, he eats A LOT! That dog loves to eat. I am there all the time and I see that they feed him regularly. What do you think could be wrong with Kenny? They are going to take him to the vet very soon, but I just wanted to do some research and find out if anyone knows what the problem could be. so i have a 3 year old golden retriever who is the most loyal and trustworthy companian you'll ever find and i left him at my family's to petsit while im out of the state this week. however, hes been there for about 12 hours and won't go potty! when he was a puppy he did that too but it was for only a day and he went right when he got home. at the family's, they live in the city. theres no grass, not even in the parks! my dog is acustomed to a green environment. so im kinda worried now! also they have him in the gargae as his living space since they are kinda neat freaks and he sheds. so if he went in there would that ruin his house breaking? would he pee in the house that is his living space when he gets back here? thanks!

Only remind her every few hours and if she has accidents threaten her by saying that you'll make her put pull-ups on. You could also hang signs with a picture of a toilet on it and maybe that'll remind her without u having to tell her. Hope this helps

ok ladies i know this is the wrong section but i didnt get many answers in the toddler/preschooler section and i figured since alot of you already have children(along with the ones your expecting) maybe you could help me out because i could really use some tips on potty training my 2 year old!!!! its like she is so interested in it but she wont use it lol. she likes to flush the "big potty" and put toilet paper in it, i went out and bought the big girl panties that she loves to wear, she recently started taking her diaper off randomly by herself even if theres a poo in there (thats alot of fun) lol but no matter what she wont pee in her big girl potty. ill take the diaper off, put the big girl panties on and dont you know she will not pee, she will hold herself till i put a pamper on her then do her thing in the pamper. this is my first and im new to alot of these things and so far this has been the biggest challenge (besides getting rid of the nuk which hasnt happened yet).... i really need help lol

Please answer! Small Dog Syndrome books!?

I sadly admit it... My 2 year old Pomeranian/yorkie mix has "small dog syndrome"): I KNOW it's my fault he is like this, and it is literally tearing my family apart. Tanner has always taken to me and my mom, and never really to my brother or dad. My dad travels during the week so he doesn't see tanner very often, but when he does tanner barks non stop at him, and is way to protective of me. He has not ever bitten anyone but I fear for that on the future. Tanner has gotten so bad that I stay in my room all the time because tanner will bark and nip at my dads heels if he gets up from watching tv. Tanner gets along with other dogs, but when the owners try to pet him ge barks and gets defensive over me. I want to stop this before it gets out of hand. And guys, I'm admitting I made him like this so no mean or rude comments! I want to know of any books that are specifically for my dog. I want to help him be happier and allow me to have friends over! It has gotten way out of hand.! I have all summer to work with him so please answer! Any books or tips welcomed! How to do certain things in highschool?

I'm a sophomore in highschool and it's sounds kinda weird but I get nervous in the hallways when walking to my next class and stuff. Like for example, I get nervous about how I'm walking and what people are thinking about me and I don't know how to look at people when walking down the hall cuz I get nervous. Like sometimes I ignore my friends when walking and they ignore me. Idk, I don't think of myself as much and I hate that because I overthink too many thing like if this popular kid is sitting next too me, the whole class I'm thinking about what he or she is thinking about me and if I look over there I turn around quickly.
